The Smiltene municipality has received a sad news from the twinning city of Willich (Germany) – the teacher, conductor and a man of culture – Mr Wolfgang Brock passed away on May 9, 2023.

On June 10, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Latvia H. E. Mr. Seong-jin Han and Third Secretary, Vice Consul Mr. Myungje Sung. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the work of Smiltene municipality, local companies and to discuss issues such as the socio-economic situation and business indicators in the municipality, investment projects and attraction of foreign financing, increase in energy prices and its impact.

Smiltene Municipal territory has become larger, and now we have more than 19 thousand inhabitants. To the Smiltene municipality for 1st  July had joined Ape and Rauna counties – also a lot of administrative employee’s reorganization and structural changes belongs to this process.
