Smiltene Municipality in March 2022

Review of the most significant events in Smiltene municipality in March 2022.

On March 1 of this year, three new state and municipal unified customer service centers in Gaujiena, Variņi and Drusti parishes started operating in Smiltene municipality. The centres will offer some of the most requested public services and municipal services. It is also possible for customers to apply for e-services.

From March 23, free swimming and sauna classes for seniors will be resumed in the Priekuli swimming pool “Rifs”. Residents of Smiltene region from the age of 54 can apply for classes.

The study building of Smiltene Secondary School has received recognition in the nomination “Public Building – New Building” of the Latvian Construction Year Award 2021, while Smiltene Evangelical Lutheran Church has been nominated and won the 1st place in the category RESTORATION 2021, for the restoration of a cultural monument. In 2020 and 2021, Smiltene Church has undergone the largest restoration and restoration in its history. Armands Rocis from SIA “8CBR” of Smiltene region won the third place in the nomination “Construction Manager”. SIA “8 CBR” is one of the oldest and largest road and bridge construction companies in Latvia.

From March 18, there is a support information center in Smiltene, Dārza Street 11, where it is possible to find out information about various types of assistance offered by the state and the municipality for residents of Ukraine accommodated in Smiltene municipality. This type of information center will be open on Fridays, but as interest increases, the information support center will be open on other days.
